You may have heard your child talking about being a bucket filler... doing and saying things to help fill others’ buckets also fill our own ❤️ Enjoy watching the video below together, made by KW...
The time has come for us to transition to Home Learning. Please be assured that if your child is still attending school at this time, we are there for them and will care for them as always. The Home Learning program will be carried out at school for those who are attending. The Kindergarten Home Learning packs will be ready for collection from Wednesday the 25th March. We will leave your child's tray outside the classrooms. Please bring along a bag or a box to collect your child's things. In our pack you will find: * A letter explaining our Home Learning program up until the school holidays * Daily Learning List - a checklist of learning activities to check off each day * Home Learning Scrapbook - this has instructions inside to access Google Classroom, Instructions for IXL maths, Learning Grid, Active Grid, Daily Counting sheets, Bucket Filling sheet, Mindfulness routines sheet, and an alphabet surprise! * Pink handwriting book * Plastic sleeve and whiteboard marker - for practising name and number writing as well as directional swirls and lines * A small pack of counters and a dice * A pack of coloured pencils * A small bag of playdough Please refer to the covering letter for instructions. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact directions in the letter (email or phone), or through the blog contact page. We will be phasing in the use of Google Classroom online. Please understand that we are also new at this and we share and appreciate your patience. We hope to share some videos with you soon and we look forward to sharing in your Home Learning. Both Mrs Dunn and I are thinking of you all at this unique time. We send you our love and wish you all the very best of health. Take care and kind regards, Mrs West and Mrs Dunn :)
** PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO THE CURRENT SITUATION, WE WILL CHECK IN WITH YOU VIA A PHONE CALL IN LIEU OF PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS **
Dear Parents & Carers, Parent-Teacher Interviews occur at the end of Term 1 each year. They are short, 10 minute interviews to discuss the learning we have been doing in class along with your child's progress. We ask that these be opportunities for student progress and achievements to be discussed. If you have further concerns about your child, or more in-depth questions, we can arrange a time to meet in Term 2. Please click on YOUR CHILD'S class link below to book your time. Should none of these suit your availability, please let us know and we can arrange another time. Many thanks, Cathy & Clare KW ~ forms.gle/wYbq6RQ2t5P3DNFx5 KD ~ forms.gle/NRmZZKyZbjDNhJcn7 As we are currently unable to assemble K-2 in the hall we held our own mini assembly in our classroom. Students took a turn at holding the pretend microphone to announce the next section of the assembly and we sang some songs, presented our class awards and celebrated recent birthdays. We also discussed the meaning of 'Harmony Day' and shared some of our orange decorations we made in class. Due to the social distancing requirements our whole school assembly this week was held in our classrooms via video link. 6D presented the assembly on our screens and we were able to all participate. A special thanks to Rachel Dunne and Brad Hicks for helping us with the technological know-how to enable this to take place. The Kindies all loved seeing their Buddies on the screen and of course enjoyed seeing themselves.
Mrs Elliot revisited Water Safety with us during "Little Assembly" last week. We talked about where we need to be safe (beach, swimming pools, dams, rivers, ponds, creeks, baths - anywhere where there is ankle deep water). We were impressed with how much the children took in and remembered, with the main points being: * Buddy Up - Always swim with a buddy * Adult Supervision - Always swim with an adult watching - properly watching, not half watching * Dive safely - Always check the depth of the water before diving * Patrolled beaches - Always swim between the flags and obey the directions of the lifeguards. They could be wearing red and yellow (volunteers) or blue (paid, during the school holidays). Each Friday morning, we have a fast maths rotation where the students focus on number concepts for a short burst of time. They work in small groups for 8-10 minutes and have 5 rotations - including one active maths station outside with Mr West. Parents are very welcome to join us during this time to help out at the rotations. We have been working on our fine motor skills, refining our pencil grip and posture and establishing directionality - always starting at the top, and around to the left. This helps us when learning to write our names.
